What really is, “No Worries” WiFi?
We’ve all had this experience: You’ve got 47 tabs open in your browser, you’re streaming a YouTube how-to video, and Pandora is softly rocking your tunes in the background. However, while you’re using all of these internet services, your WiFi is slow and lagging. You don’t know why and it bugs you. You feel like it shouldn’t be this way, technology is advanced now and stuff should just work! But, it doesn’t. And it lags, and loading wheels endlessly spin, and that new, nifty gadget you bought keeps disconnecting. You’re frustrated beyond words. You’re seeking No Worries WiFi.

IoT Devices Get Better
Nest thermostat and Ring doorbell aren’t the only Internet of Things devices worth looking at for your smart home anymore. Some new real contenders have emerged.
Russia and China were snooping your IoT device
In March, Forbes published an article written by tech journalist Aaron Tilley that reported on data leakage from a popular smart home, IoT device (Forbes.com Article). Allegedly, data packets were leaking from consumers devices to unknown data centers in China. Aaron reported that, “unknown to even the company, tiny packets of audio data were also being routed to a server in China run by Chinese internet giant Baidu at seemingly random intervals.” Evidently, this data proved to pose no significant risk to the end user’s privacy. The company released a patch to correct all problemed devices.
Internet of Things, why should I care?
The phrase, “Internet of Things,” or, “IoT,” might not be too familiar to you. At its core, IoT is about more and more devices becoming internet enabled. No longer is internet access limited to computers, phones, and tablets. Now, everything is getting connected. Products like: lightbulbs, garage door openers, thermostats (like Nest and ecobee), coffee makers, refrigerators, door locks, cameras, door bells, outlets, and voice activated appliances are all linking up. The list just keeps on growing and growing. Even nontraditionally considered products like power tools are jumping on the IoT bandwagon.
